Project Connect Information Session

Erikson Institute and ISBE are partnering for a yearlong professional learning series to serve 100 kindergarten teachers statewide in the 2023-2024 school year. Project Connect is underwritten by a grant for schools and districts.

This 45-minute session will explain how Project Connect supports the state’s initiative on kindergarten readiness, including the mandated Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) assessment. Project Connect aims to improve teachers’ ability to observe, document, and interpret children's behavior and thinking, a vital skill to better and more equitably meet the diverse needs of children in Illinois.

Project Connect participants will have dedicated time to (1) collect Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) data, (2) gain deeper knowledge of children’s development, including the unique needs of dual language learners, in the domains of SEL, language and literacy, and math, and (3) engage with kindergarten colleagues to plan instructional next steps in response to KIDS data.

While we offer multiple options to fit busy schedules, the information at each session will be the same. All sessions are 45 minutes long including time for questions.
